Study for CAT can be a daunting task for some, but with good planning and execution can go through the journey smooth and successful. A good way to start your preparation of the study is to understand where you are in the test areas and what should be developed to improve their abilities to respond to the bar.

Some of the suggestions that might be useful in working towards a listed here:

  • Quantitative aptitude
Work on basic concepts in mathematics learning in CBSE textbooks. Get the CAT previous questionnaires and start working on them. To have a post on how you perform on the various fields, including but not limited to algebra, algebra, geometry, probability, permutation and combination, work problems, etc. certainly help you track your performance preparation! Come with methods and procedures to cut short, a suggestion would be to compare materials such as "Vedic mathematics strategy to your device keypad. But do not let the extra effort digression your preparation.
  • Verbal ability

Read a lot, in fact, read everything you can get. Note that CAT tests your ability in standard English. Get high with the vocabulary of English usage, grammar and verbal reasoning, be sure to work in different types of questions in CAT previous questionnaires.

  • Data interpretation

Being a good observer, you must pay more attention to and carefully considered the information about the interpretation of data. Not a strong foundation in mathematics, this will help you quickly find the answers, rather than spend laborious computation time. Again, as mentioned, the work sample question papers from previous studies on cat!

Although logical reasoning is part of the preceding paragraphs, it is deliberately left out, because it is a combination of verbal and mathematical skills. The logical questions are easy to handle, if you know what will be asked questions by eliminating unnecessary data manifest!

  • Practice

Working on all types of problems and not leave a single type. You must learn to better what you are strong and improve on areas that you are not. Take lots of mock trials, and some schools offer free practice tests simulated, too.

  • Confused with self-

And 'quite possible to lose focus in the preparation of CAT and loose. Stay caught up with the other candidates who are preparing for CAT. Some of you can work in conjunction with the best research.

BITSAT QUERIES

BITSAT is one of the biggest exams for the students of engineering , demanding attention right after IIT-JEE and AIEEE and in some cases, regarded even higher than AIEEE .Since there's always a lot of confusion regarding the BITSAT courses , the following information would be very helpful in knowing the different types of courses and will give you a rough idea of what would be best suitable for you .The information doesn't direct anybody against any course but merely gives an idea of what each course offers you in the near future and where it can get you placed.
The different courses offered are:

(i) at BITS, Pilani – Pilani Campus:

B.E.(Hons.): Chemical; Civil; Computer Science; Electrical and Electronics; Electronics & Instrumentation; Mechanical;

B.Pharm.(Hons.);

M.Sc.(Hons.): Biological Sciences; Chemistry; Economics; Mathematics; Physics; and

M.Sc.(Tech.): General Studies; Engineering Technology; Finance; Information Systems.

(ii) at BITS, Pilani – Goa Campus:

B.E.(Hons.): Chemical; Computer Science; Electrical and Electronics; Electronics & Instrumentation; Mechanical;

M.Sc.(Hons.): Biological Sciences; Chemistry; Economics; Mathematics; Physics; and

M.Sc.(Tech.): Information Systems.

(iii) at BITS, Pilani – Hyderabad Campus :

B.E.(Hons.): Chemical; Civil; Computer Science; Electronics & Communication, Electrical and Electronics; Mechanical;

B.Pharm.(Hons.);

M.Sc.(Hons.): Biological Sciences; Chemistry; Economics; Mathematics; Physics; and

M.Sc.(Tech.): Information Systems.

M.Sc.(Hons.) offers you a dual degree in any of the B.E.(Hons.)/B.Pharm(Hons.) based on your academic performance at the end of your first year separately in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campus.

Choice and general preference order of courses according to the interest of students:

1 .B.E (Hons) Computer science...or 2.B.E(Hons) EEE( depends on ur interest for students who are more interested in electricals they should prefer it because it has one of the best faculty in ASIA and for students who want a better placement should prefer comp sci because they get better pay than anyother branch in bits)

3.M.Sc(Tech) Information Systems(students who are more interested to enjoy life but still get a better pay than most other engineering degrees should prefer this.But students have to consider that this is not an engineering degree its just a substiute for comp sci without an engineering degree with very good placements)

3.B.E(Hons) Electrical& instrumentation (Has great scope in higher studies has only few courses differnt frm EEE)

3.B.E(Hons) Mechanical (100% placements easy course interesting also....and now a days the placemnts rock )

6.M.Sc(Hons) Economics And the reason i rate eco above other M.Sc.degrees because its easy and u can increase ur cgpa and secondly itz helpful for ppl intersted in management courses...Thirdly u have many finance companies coming to the campus and selecting students irrespective of their ENGINEERING degree

7.M.Sc(Hons) Mathematics (if u want a comp sci dual)

7. M.Sc(Hons) Physics(if u want a EEE/EIE/MECH dual and also physics is really intersting)

7.M.Sc(Hons) Chemistry(For any dual)

7.B.E(Hons) Chemical(Now a days placements are very good...and if the trend continues...probably Chemical engineering avg will be higher than Computer Science engineering)

8.B.E(Hons) Civil

12.M.sc(Hons) Biological Sciences

13.M.Sc(Tech) Finance

Other degrees follow

Expected Cutoffs - AIEEE 2009

The JEE results are out, and students are eagerly waiting for the results of their next biggest exam, the AIEEE 2009. The exam was taken up all over the country on 26 April by a whopping 10 lakh aspirants, and the exam had mixed surprises in store.

What's more, now the new question on students' minds is : Which score will take me to an NIT?

Several websites and tutorial forums have already begun the task of solving the question paper, gauging the difficulty levels and predicting cutoffs for getting into NITs. Initial reactions from students indicate that there was a major change in the pattern of the paper taking them by surprise. Also Maths was the toughest according to many.

Some of the authentic sources and blogs have their own predictions of possible cutoff scores. For instance, Ankur Gupta's blog has the following prediction table:

For more info, visit :http://www.ankur-gupta.com/blog/aieee/aieee-2009

The topic-wise break-up for each subject is given below. The table, by Career Launcher, also compares this year's distribution with respect to last year's to give an idea of the shift in the paper.

Mathematics

Physics

Chemistry

Some websites have also posted solutions for the AIEEE 09 paper. These can be obtained at the following links:

The significant time pressure that one witnessed in past years has been dramatically reduced. Nevertheless, the strategy to ace this test depended on keeping one's cool and identifying the simpler questions to attempt first before moving to the more difficult questions.

Some other universities and Self–Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the students on the basis of TANCET for their quota of seats.

TANCET is conducted every year on the 2nd Sunday of May, for Admission to the MBA programmes of Anna University School of Management, The Govt College of Technology Coimbatore, The Govt Colleges of Engineering at Salem and Tirunelveli and to other Govt aided and unaided Colleges. The actual list of colleges that are affliated to the TANCET in any given year is released by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu, 20 days before the exam.

For more information on TANCET, visit the foll. links:
http://www.annauniv.edu/tancet2009/ (official site)
http://www.indiastudycenter.com/Univ/ExamInfo/TNadu/TANCET/TANCET-2009/default.asp

With the standards of these institutions growing better and better every academic year, the TANCET today has quite a remarkable attendance not only by students of TN, but those from other states also. Moreover, the percentage of graduates intending to pursue higher studies is also increasing owing to less pay in jobs, and recessional considerations, giving the TANCET all the more importance in the TN scenario.

"Recession: Higher education in specialty domains is the answer - experts"

Recession has hit the entire world. India is not an exception though the blow is not very severe. We as students, have to plan and manage the situation intelligently. Financial experts have suggested that consolidated higher studies may be the key to survival in these testing times.

"There has been sudden reduction in career opportunities as the exports have dropped. However, there is still demand for graduates with competence in specialty domains like space engineering, nanotechnology, cyber laws, IPR, nuclear engineering, software technology and infrastructure management among others. The fresh IT graduates need not be scared about lack of immediate job opportunities. Instead, they can use this period to pursue higher studies and add to the professional competence. They should be careful in selecting the areas for higher studies and see to it that they get specialized in upcoming and potential domains."- TOI (for full article, http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Hubli/Recession-Higher-education-in-specialty-domains-is-the-answer/articleshow/4511085.cms)
